As an insurance transactional and regulatory attorney, I analyze the laws of all fifty (50) states and support the industry, and businesses of all kinds, in all of their needs, business and transactions, regulatory issues and otherwise. AS YOU ARE AWARE, I DO NOT BRING LAWSUITS OR DEFEND THEM (OTHER THAN PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY STATE REGULATORS AGAINST INSURANCE INDUSTRY RELATED CLIENTS). I HELP CLIENTS UNDERSTAND ALL KINDS OF CURRENT CHANGES AFOOT IN NEW  YORK LAW (AND THE INSURANCE LAWS OF OTHER STATES) AFFECTING THEIR BUSINESSES. MANY REFERRALS COME FROM LARGE LAW FIRMS IN NYC, CHICAGO, COLUMBUS OH, TOKYO AND OTHER CITIES, COAST-TO-COAST AND WORLDWIDE. SEVERAL EQUALLY QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED ATTORNEYS ASSIST ME WHENEVER NEEDED.

However, I do research and provide insurance legal and regulatory opinions for most business and individual clients. In the near future, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (CityBar) will be releasing an audio-only podcast to the public, which will appear on the CityBar's public website, https://www.nycbar.org/, available to all members and their clients, and non-members, and their respective business clients. This podcast is being offered as a public service and as part of the CityBar's 150th anniversary observance).

The subject is: CORONAVIRUS, CANCELLED EVENTS AND INSURANCE COVERAGE

I am one of the four extremely qualified and experienced speakers, the first one in order (on the topic of Consumer Trip Cancellation-Recent Changes in New York Travel Insurance).

A summary agenda appears below:
Working title: Coronavirus, Cancelled Events and Insurance Coverage
Discussion grouped by type insurance
Consumer—trip cancellation
Recent changes in New York travel insurance
Promoter/Sponsor—event cancellation insurance
Virus exclusion
Vendor—business interruption insurance
Emphasis on property damage
Recently filed DJs
Civil/military authority
Sandy experiences
Other types of coverage—CGL and property insurance
Government orders to cover Covid-19 claims despite exclusions (similar to Gov. Cuomo ordering insurance companies to waive co-pays for coronavirus testing)

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a new NYS law which is intended to assist consumers and businesses. Whether it passes the Legislature, or is issued as an Executive Order by the NYS Governor, there will unquestionably be a ferocious challenge brought by the insurance industry, since it is an attempt to force changes, sua-sponte, in-force business interruption (BI) and certain other property-casualty insurance policies issued and paid for by businesses, to not enforce an contractual exception to coverage of businesses for losses due to “pandemics and epidemics”. It specifically targets policies issued to small businesses during the height of the COVID-19 outbreak. I will keep you apprised of all developments in this regard.
