Mr. Corcoran formed his own consulting firm in 2001 to provide consulting, expert testimony, and related legal services to insurance company clients including, among others, The Zurich Insurance Corporation of America, The Castlewood Group, St. Paul/Travelers Insurance Corp., Gerling Globale, Harbor Insurance Group, Highfields Capital Management, Humana Inc., John Hancock Insurance Company, Manulife Financial, Nomura Securities, QBE Insurance Corporation and several law firms.

As a leader in the insurance industry and an effective strategist, Mr. Corcoran participated in several arbitrations as an ARIAS-U.S. certified arbitrator.  He successfully represented the interests of six stock life insurance companies in opposing nationally proposed mutual holding company statutes and a consortium of fifty corporations in Executive Life Insurance Company’s insolvency.  Over the last several years, Mr. Corcoran has made presentations on such subjects as mergers and acquisitions in the insurance industry, compliance issues, state and federal issues impacting an insurer’s ability to control its ratings, alternative insurance markets, the impact of new products on an insurer’s solvency, marketing on the Internet and the attendant regulatory concerns, securitization, and financial guaranty insurance.
